COMPUTER
REQUIREMENTS
What are the browser requirements and how do I know which browser
to choose?
|
 |
To
access memberONLINE, we suggest that you use a 4.0 (or higher)
version of a Web browser such as AOL, Netscape Navigator, or Microsoft
Internet Explorer. Because, your browser must support 128-bit
SSL encryption and java-script so that we can maintain the highest
encryption standards throughout our site to protect your online
account information and so you can take full advantage of our
navigation capabilities.
|
 |
Cookies
must be enabled on your browser. The cookie used within Net Access
is used only to maintain the privacy of communication between you
and the Web server. Browsers normally come with cookies enabled
as a default setting. |
 |
The
following browsers support 128-bit encryption. It's a process
used to scramble confidential data passed between two points so
it can't be read by others.
Microsoft
Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher. If you're using the Windows
2000 operating system, you may also need to install an Internet
Explorer High Encryption Pack.
Netscape Navigator 5.0 or higher.
|
 |
Choosing
a browser depends on your personal preference. Internet Explorer
comes pre-installed with all versions of Windows(95,98,2000,or XP)
by default. Should you choose the Netscape Browser, you can download
it free. |
How can I get the most recent version of Microsoft Internet Explorer
or America Online?
Microsoft |
 |
You
can download a copy directly from Microsoft using your current
browser and follow the directions. Be ready to supply the names
of your platform (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) and the name and version
number of your operating system (Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows
2000, Windows XP, MacOS 8, MacOS X).
|
 |
Choose
a version to download; make sure to get version 4.0 or higher.
We recommend that you obtain the latest full release, not a preview
version, which may have bugs or unresolved problems. |
| If
you have an existing AOL account: |
 |
Sign
on to America Online with your current software.
|
 |
Go
to the keyword browser. To do this, click the Keywords button at
the top right of your AOL toolbar, or type Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on Macintosh),
enter the word "browser", and click Go. |
 |
Follow
the directions provided there. The system will detect your platform
and operating system, and recommend the best version for you automatically.
|
|
If
you don't already have an AOL account: |
 |
You
can download a full copy of the AOL software from America
Online using another browser. The system will detect your platform
and operating system, and recommend the best version for you automatically.
Make sure to get version 3.0 or higher. |
What kind of computer software/equipment do I need? |
 |
You
will need an Internet service provider and a modem with a baud rate
of at least 28,800 for acceptable performance. Your web browser
must support Secure Socket Layers (SSL).

TIPS FOR TECHNICAL PROBLEMS
What
should I do if my browser only loads part of a page?
|
 |
If
you are using Internet Explorer, click the "Refresh" button
on the toolbar. If you are using Netscape click the "Reload"
button on the toolbar. If this does not correct the problem, our
site may be experiencing exceptionally heavy usage. Please try again
at a later time.
|
Why does my browser seem slow?
Your
browser could seem slow for any one of the following reasons:
|
 |
You
may need to upgrade your browser. |
 |
The
required 128-bit encryption may slow your browser
|
 |
You
may have a number of applications running. Closing some of these
should help.
|
 |
You
may have a lot of information in your cache. We recommend clearing
out your cache periodically. |
How can I print without graphics? |
 |
Highlight
the text that you would like printed. Then right click on your mouse,
select Print. When the Print Menu comes up under Print Frames choose
only selected frame. |
Why do I get the message 'Interactive Session Interrupted'? |
 |
The
message is displayed because of a variety of reasons. If you click
another item, hit the back button, double click a button before
the page has loaded, or re-size the browser window, this message
will appear. Follow the instructions on the message to get back
into memberONLINE.
|
Why do I get an "Interactive Session cannot be continued"
message when I try to access my account? |
 |
This
error normally occurs when members "double click" within
memberONLINE. In order to follow any link or select any button,
you only need to click one time. Clicking twice may cause your session
to time out. Make sure that you have not double clicked on any item. |
 |
There
are a number of other reasons why you might be getting this error
message. First, make sure that your Netscape Browser is set to "Every
Time" for checking for cached pages. To verify this setting,
under your Edit menu, select PREFERENCES. Under your ADVANCED list,
select your CACHE option. On the right side of that window, at the
bottom, you will see options for viewing your pages and checking
your cache file. Set the option to EVERY TIME. Close your browser
and reopen it for the settings to take effect.
|
Why did my session log out? |
 |
There
is a time limit on your session. If you are logged on for 10 minutes
without any activity the memberONLINE session will automatically
shut down. |
My account says that it is locked, what happened and what do I do? |
 |
Your
account might have been blocked due to too many invalid pin tries
or wrong account information. Please call a First Source FCU Representative
to have this reset. |
Are there prescheduled down times where I will not be able to use
memberONLINE? |
 |

INTERNET
SECURITY
Are
there any security guidelines to memberONLINE? |
 |
One
of our highest priorities at First Source FCU is to ensure your
privacy and peace of mind by employing some of the most advanced
online security measures in the industry.
|
 |
Once
you enroll in memberONLINE, you will be able to use a self-selected
Login Name/Password system that serves as your first line of security.
Then
every step of the way, we will provide you with state-of-the-art
encryption of all data transmitted between your computer and our
secure site. Most browsers today utilize an encryption method
called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL is software-based security
protocol that encodes data before it is transmitted over the Internet.
|
 |
Many
browsers today offer both 40-bit and 128-bit versions of SSL. 128-bit
encryption provides a much higher level of security, as it is more
than 300 x 1024 more secure than 40-bit encryption. Major commercial
browsers, including the 4.0 and higher versions of Netscape Navigator
and Microsoft Explorer, include this encryption software. memberONLINE
requires the higher level (128-bit SSL) of encryption to ensure
the privacy of your information. |
 |
An
icon, such as a lock or key, will be displayed in the corner of
your browser's window to let you know that your browser's encryption
is active.
|
 |
Another
security feature of memberONLINE is the use of secure electronic
forms (e-forms). You'll use these forms to request additional services
or changes to your account. Unlike e-mail, e-forms can be encrypted
with SSL to protect your information.
|
 |
The
best security measures are those that support your privacy without
getting in your way. We prove our commitment to this belief by
constantly "raising the bar" on our own efforts. As
a result, you can rest assured that your account information is
safe from prying eyes.
|
 |
You
can also ensure the security of your information by following these
steps: |
| |
 |
Never
reveal your Login Name and Password to anyone. |
 |
Change
your password frequently using the Change Password function. |
 |
Always
log off of memberONLINE before leaving your computer. |
 |
Always
log off of memberONLINE before accessing other Web sites. |
Is the Internet safe and secure to use memberONLINE? |
 |
At
First Source FCU, security is extremely important. memberONLINE
requires the use of certain Web Browsers, because of their built-in
security encryption features. If you have a browser that does not
have the security features required, you will not be able to log
on to memberONLINE.
|
 |
The
server is also protected by a firewall, a system or combination
of hardware and software solutions that enforces a boundary between
two or more networks.
