HistoryWe were founded in 1938 as Utica Teachers Federal Credit Union. In the midst of the Depression, teachers found it difficult to secure credit, and they also had special needs, such as the deferment of loan payments during the summer months when school was not in session. Eleven teachers applied for and received the Government's approval to form a Credit Union. We grew steadily from that humble beginning.
In 1992, to better reflect the broader membership of the organization, our name was changed to First Source Federal Credit Union. More recently, Membership rules were expanded to include almost all residents in the regions in which we operate. Today we serve over 37,000 Members of the Central New York community.
