First Source Supports Missing Children Riders Walking for Cause

July 8, 2010

The 10th Annual Boilermaker Walk Committee has chosen NCMEC-NY/Mohawk Valley and The Ride for Missing Children to be their charity partner for the 2010 Walk, and as Luminary Sponsor of 2010’s Ride, First Source Federal Credit Union employees will be leading the way. First Source has encouraged employees and their families, a number of who were also Riders and Ride Volunteers, to participate in this wonderful cause.

First Source employees, along with Riders (wearing their Ride jerseys) and Ride Volunteers (wearing their NCMEC t-shirts), will participate as a group, navigating the grounds of the Masonic Care Community at The Boilermaker Expo on Saturday, July 10, 2010, from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm. This is the second year the Ride has been chosen as charity partner for the Walk.

Additionally, First Source employees will also be operating the Child Identification system at the Masonic Home during Boilermaker registration on Friday, July 9th.

“We put our energies and resources into many charitable efforts every year,” said Mike Parsons, President and CEO of First Source Federal Credit Union,” and The Ride was one of the largest and most rewarding. What many people may not know is that NCMEC participates in events year-round, all to raise visibility for the plight of missing children, and raise funds for efforts to secure their return. We’re so proud to be a part of all their efforts, and the Boilermaker Walk has generously partnered with us again to support this important cause.”

The Boilermaker Walk, a family event that includes old and young participants alike, covers a 3-mile course along the Masonic Care Community grounds, with water stations and fan support along the way. The walk is a part of the Boilermaker Expo, with a post-walk celebration that includes snacks and beverages.

Pam Way, First Source’s Community Relations Specialist, is overwhelmed by the level of participation among the Credit Union’s staff. “It’s amazing how many employees contribute their personal time and effort. We always encourage them to contribute to charitable causes in any way they can, and The Ride and Walk give them tangible ways to support our local community, and the greater community served by the Mohawk Valley office of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.”
