FSC_RideCheck1

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of Members, Employees, Business Partners, Family Members and Friends who helped out in some way to make this year’s Ride for Missing Children a HUGE success! Through monetary donations, Team First Source raised over $12,000! With their Corporate donation, the team was able to hand the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children a check for a little over $32,000!

Thank you again for helping to Make Our Children Safer, One Child At A Time.

Why We Ride: Tom Neumann

May 10, 2013

TNeumann_7941_cropsm“I am riding for my 4th year and volunteering on the Steering Committee for my 3rd year. I come back every year because I believe in their mission. It’s an amazing group, and I’ve seen first-hand the impact our efforts have on the affected families, school children, and the Center.

The most touching experience for me was meeting the Spierer family last year. They had lost their daughter less than a year before, and it was the first time I met a family that close to an abduction. Their strength and appreciation was amazing. We thanked them for giving us a deeper understanding of what a family goes through, and they could not express just how thankful they were for all the support from us, and for the hope that all our efforts could bring their child home and prevent another family from having to go through the same experience.”

Throughout the year First Source contributes our time and financial resources to many worthy causes. This season we make a special appeal for the Ride For Missing Children-CNY, an annual 90+/- mile bicycle journey to raise funds and awareness for the plight of missing and exploited children. We are proud to be the Corporate Luminary Sponsor again, and equally proud that we have 8 Riders and 5 volunteers from Team First Source among the hundreds that will ride and volunteer this year. Learn more about the Ride, other riders and how we help to bring missing children home here.

Meet First Source Intern Kayla Angerosa

May 8, 2013

I am currently a student at Mohawk Valley Community College, in the past Spring 2013 semester I took the buiness internship class. This is a 16 week program in which us as the students go out and intern at various local businesses. I had the wonderful opportunity of interning at First Source Federal Credit Union in New Hartford, in the Marketing and Communications department.

I have taken away so many valuable skills and gotten the chance to work on

Better Communication Skills
Data Input
Working with different Design Software
and got exposure to the office environment.

I also had the opportunity to sit in on meetings, and work on some community events. All of the things that I have worked on here at First Source are hands on projects, that i would not be able to do in the classroom. I am going to be graduating this May, and plan to continue my education at SUNYIT in the fall.

I am so grateful, and would like to thank everyone at First Source for allowing me to come and intern here! I will take the knowledge that i have acquired into all of my future endeavors!

Why We Ride: Liz Crane

May 2, 2013

Liz Crane is part of Team First Source and will be raising funds and riding in this year’s Ride For Missing Children. Here’s why Liz decides to ride:

Liz Crane of Team First Source

“I have been participating in the Ride for three years, and each time it is more meaningful. The first time I rode into a school, when I saw and heard the kids cheering, the school bands playing and the banners flying, I thought, why are they doing this for us? We are doing this for them!

After all the hard work of training, fundraising and riding 100 or so miles, knowing the purpose of why we ride and spread awareness of our mission really brings out so many emotions that day, but when I see those precious kids, I cry every time!”

Brian Williams Receives the Go Red Power of You Award

May 1, 2013

brianThe American Heart Association has again partnered with Excellus BlueCross BlueShield to recognize an individual whom over the past year has made positive changes and significant steps towards living a healthier life.  No change is too small and every accomplishment is significant to be celebrated!

This year our own Brian Williams was the recipient of the Go Red Power of You award for beginning and maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Brian has stuck to a great workout regiment at a local gym and also has become more conscious of his diet. That combination of exercise and sticking to eating healthier foods has had a positive impact on both his health and is an example for others to follow.

Brian was recognized at today’s Go Red Luncheon and we want to extend our congratulations as well!
