Inspiring Support for Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when communities and organizations come together to support those affected by breast cancer and raise funds for research and development to combat this disease. This year, First Source supported by sponsoring, volunteering, and riding in the Riders Wear Pink bike ride event on October 1st. The event, held at 7 Hamlets Brewery in Westmoreland, NY, was a testament to the community’s commitment to making a difference in the fight against breast cancer. (# of riders) riders took part on the course, helping to raise a total of ($ amount) for the American Cancer Society.


First Source's Dedication to the Cause

At the forefront of this initiative was Edward Barone, Community Development Manager at First Source, who took on the role of organizing and overseeing the Riders Wear Pink bike ride event. His dedication and passion for the cause were evident in the event's success. 

First Source also had its own staff members actively involved in setting up and making the event a reality. Their presence showcased the credit union's strong sense of community involvement and its commitment to supporting worthy causes. (# of baskets) gift baskets were also raffled off to help add to the total donations. 

Amy DeMetri, Executive Vice President at First Source, made her mark by participating in the event, riding a challenging 20 miles to support the cause. Her commitment to the event and the cause exemplifies First Source's leadership in the fight against breast cancer.

The Riders Wear Pink Bike Ride

The Riders Wear Pink bike ride event was more than just a cycling event; it was a symbol of hope, strength, and unity. Participants gathered at 7 Hamlets Brewery in Westmoreland, NY, to embark on a journey to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and development.

Some participants took on the challenging 50-mile route, pushing their limits to support the cause, while others opted for a 20-mile ride.
