First Source is participating in the Go Red Corporate Challenge. Over 8 weeks our staff are focusing on starting heart-healthy habits that include getting more exercise, eating well and more. We’re tracking our results and supporting each other as a team throughout the challenge.
Below, learn about Pete Berowski‘s goals for the Go Red Corporate Challenge.

Why did you sign up for the Challenge?
I signed up for the Challenge to help motivate others to be healthier. I feel that I live a very healthy life style, and would like to motivate others to make healthier decisions.
What do you plan to focus on in the next 8 weeks?
What I plan to focus on is just to continue to make sure I am eating well, getting at least 20 minutes (but usually more) of vigorous exercise each day, and drinking plenty of water.
What do you hope to accomplish?
A more defined core. With the challenge I started to do P90X again. I’ve always maintained a work out; however, last year when we did the corporate challenge it really helped me to be motivated to change my eating and work out patterns. When the challenge started last year I did P90X (which is 13 weeks, so I did it even after we were done). I then moved on to Insanity.
Staring the challenge last year really made me to be aware of what I was eating. I never was one to really care, I would just eat what I liked. Now I’ve started to really read labels and tried not to consume anything that didn’t look like food. When I can I try to purchase organic food, and I’ve almost completely cut out meat from my diet, substituting vegetarian alternatives. Last summer my wife and I started hitting up local farmers markets for local organic produce. I feel that now that I am aware of what I am eating; I tend to have more energy, I fell great most of the time, and it’s easier on the wallet.
