The Parkinson's Awareness Walk is more than just a community event; it’s a vital fundraiser that supports and grows the specialized programs offered by Community Wellness Partners. These programs, including Rock Steady Boxing, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, and the Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT) program, provide essential services and therapies that significantly improve the quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Rock Steady Boxing is an innovative fitness program that focuses on rigorous exercise designed to improve gross motor movement, balance, core strength, and rhythm. Research has shown that such physical activity can positively impact range of motion, flexibility, posture, gait, and activities of daily living for those with Parkinson's. This program is a game-changer for participants, helping them maintain and even improve their physical capabilities.

Pedaling for Parkinson’s is another groundbreaking program that harnesses the benefits of cycling. This program helps participants achieve better motor function and reduces the progression of Parkinson's symptoms. The rhythmic and repetitive motion of cycling is particularly effective in helping to manage the disease.

The Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT) program focuses on speech therapy, aiming to improve vocal loudness, speech clarity, and overall communication abilities. This is especially crucial as Parkinson’s can often lead to difficulties with speech, impacting the ability to communicate effectively.

Community Wellness Partners witnesses firsthand the positive impacts of these programs every day. Their dedicated team not only provides therapeutic support but also educates and empowers families and patients who are newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. The comprehensive approach of their Outpatient Therapy Services—including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy—ensures that individuals at all stages of Parkinson’s receive effective and empowering treatments.

In addition to these therapy programs, Community Wellness Partners hosts The William and Rita Abraham Speaker Series, an educational initiative held four times a year. This series offers valuable insights and perspectives from experts in the field of Parkinson’s Disease. Best of all, it’s free to all community members, making it an accessible resource for anyone seeking to learn more about the disease.

We invite you to join us on September 21st at the Parkinson’s Awareness Walk. This event is not only a way to honor those affected by Parkinson’s but also a chance to contribute to the growth of these life-changing programs. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those living with Parkinson’s Disease and continue to build a stronger, healthier community.

Let’s walk together, support together, and make a positive impact together.
