Each year, the third Thursday in October is celebrated worldwide as International Credit Union (ICU) Day—a day honoring the spirit of the Credit Union Movement and the mission of “People Helping People.” At First Source, we’re proud to be part of a movement that continues to make a real difference in our communities.
This year, we wanted to bring that mission to life in a meaningful way. We recently learned that the Johnson Park Center, one of our key local organizations, had lost critical funding for their food pantry. Knowing how essential their services are, we decided to surprise them.
On ICU Day, two members of our Community Team, Deb and Mariann, visited Kimberly Beckman and Reverend Ursula Meier at the Johnson Park Center with a special video message from our CEO, John Calabrese, and a $1,000 donation to support the pantry. In the message, John shared:
“We’re very close to your organization and wanted to do something that truly recognizes the spirit of people helping people. Please accept this donation to help Johnson Park continue serving the community in a time of need.”
It was a joyful moment of connection and gratitude—a true reflection of what ICU Day is all about. At First Source, the celebration isn’t just about acknowledging the Credit Union Movement; it’s about taking action to support the communities we serve.
We’re honored to work with organizations like the Johnson Park Center and proud to help ensure that vital services continue for those who need them most.
